Fishing in the Everglades has been spectacular, due to our recent drop in temperatures. The snook in the incoming tides have been biting great on jigs baited with shrimp. The redfish and black drum have been second-to-none on your hard bottom spots. (oyster beds or hard shelled bottom) The speckled sea trout have been biting well on your outgoing tide, narrow channel passes.
Shallow Water Patch Fishing Report
On the ocean side of Islamorada there has been an unbelievable amount of species of fish caught, including hogfish, porgy, yellowtail snapper and mangrove snapper. With the shrimp drifting through the bridges, and the back-to-back cold fronts coming through, its what makes the shallow water fishery so extravagant. The gag groupers' have been biting as well, and if you're lucky enough, the permit have been floating on the inshore rocks!
